“DEATH IS BUT A DOOR”

I remember it was really sunny while I was out earlier on Sunday. I stepped indoors contemplating lunch and reading some wedding highlights when I suddenly heard thunder rumbling, I looked out and it had become deathly cloudy with a few raindrops hitting the ground;
I was reminded of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:38‭-‬39 “People were eating, drinking, and getting married right up to the day the flood came and Noah went into the big boat. They didn’t know anything was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. This is how it will be when the Son of Man appears.”

I felt sorry for myself and everyone else realising how pathetic we are. The same way the rains stole into the sunny day will be the same way the Day of the Lord comes and yet most of us seem very much oblivious to it.
We have made things of the world priority, forgetting that it is passing away. Ourselves, our jobs/businesses, prosperity, family, money, education, etc have been prioritized over our LORD which shouldn’t be the case.

Luke 9 25 asks what it shall profit a man if he gains the whole world and yet loses his soul. What use is it “making it big” in life and having Matthew 7 21-23 happen to us in the end?

Jesus said in Luke 9 23 that anyone who decides to come after Him must deny himself and take up his cross (die) daily. We are to die to our nature which contradicts the Christlikeness we are called to attain. We are to put to death the things which only give us worldly pleasure. We are to deny the things which exalt themselves above GOD in our lives.
An attempt should be made each day to live our lives unequivocally according to His Word.

It may not happen as the Bible depicts for us but remember “death is but a door”. When you go through it, where are you headed?

The devil can bark……….

What’s going on in your life which has you discouraged? Who/what has you afraid? Why are you letting a situation or a “mere man” get you down? Even the devil has been defeated on your behalf so why are you going against the command in Joshua?
The LORD commands us not to be discouraged or afraid in Joshua 1:9. Just like every other commandment, we are to obey this.

The LORD’S promises which are “yes” and “amen” in our Lord Jesus Christ says;
He will never leave you nor forsake you,
He goes before you and is your rear guard. His angels surround you and deliver you
You will walk through the valley of the shadows of death and come out unscathed
If the Most High be for you, who/what dare be against you?
_Have you read Deuteronomy 28?_

They will fight you, difficulties will come, people will act badly towards you but you are _predestined_ to be victorious!

What/who or which demon got you down today? Tell Daddy about it and watch His deliverance come through. What is impossible for HIM?

Have faith, walk by faith and not by sight. Without faith GOD can do nothing for you (Mark 6 5)

The scariest verse in the Bible

I disliked reading the book of Revelation because it terrified me but a Paul Washer sermon made me realize that the scariest text in the Bible (to me) was Matthew 7 21-23.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

This refers to us believers; those of us who think everything is perfect between God and ourselves because our prayers are getting answered, we are speaking in tongues, we are healing the sick, always in church, evangelising, tithing, sowing seeds, giving……we are the “Lord, Lord” group. How terrifying to think that all the while you thought you were humbly walking the narrow road, you were actually moonwalking down the broad road.

I fear for us……are we practicing this lawlessness ( 1 John 3 4) which causes our Lord not to know us? Are we doing the will of the Father in heaven? It’s not what you think or feel. Examine yourself (2 Corinthians 13 5) according to the Truth ( John 17 17) EVERYDAY.
Please live according to the whole Truth; not part of it or what makes you feel comfortable.

I’d urge us to write this verse some place where we’d always see it, to admonish us and encourage us. I don’t want to die believing I’d receive “Well done, good and faithful servant” only to hear “Depart from Me, I never knew you”. I’m sure you wouldn’t want same.

When we fail, He is faithful

How nice to know that irrespective of our wrongdoings and shortcomings, the Lord is faithful and true to His Word; if we return to Him. Great is His faithfulness!

In Matthew 16 17, Jesus blessed Peter and told him he’d be the rock upon which he’d build His church. However, fast forward to Matthew 26 31-35, Jesus predicted Peter’s denial which came to pass in Matthew 26 69-75. He also failed to keep watch with the Lord when He asked him to.

Considering this, we’d think his actions would nullify God’s blessings or cancel His promises. But praise be to God who is ever faithful! When Peter repented and wept bitterly over his actions, the Word of the Lord came to pass; Peter was the first apostle to take the Gospel to the Gentiles (Acts 10). He also was so filled with the Holy Spirit, he raised the dead! (Acts 9:36-41).

What can we learn from this? God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
(Numbers 23:19)

The Lord has said: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV

All the promises in the Bible are for us; we can’t receive them if we remain disobedient, however. Examine your life and return truly to your first love.

Fulfilling God’s will

Good morning. Hope you are good.

We often hear about God’s will but some of us are in the dark regarding what it is or what they are. I’d like to share 5 according to His Word (I encourage you to read the Word also as you’d come across others which would help you in your walk with God). I advise that we try with the help of the Holy Spirit to fulfill them.

1) Give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5 18)

2) Be sanctified: Avoid sexual immorality (1 Thessalonians 4 3)

3) Do good (1 Peter 2 15)

4) Share the knowledge of truth so others can be truly saved ( 1 Timothy 2 4)

5) Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God (Micah 6 8)

It is my prayer that God equips us with every good thing for doing His will (Hebrews 13 21).
Let’s start by asking for forgiveness and repenting for we are all with sin (1 John 1 8).

Chasing God for the right reasons

We’ve heard repeated so often; don’t chase money, chase God. Many, if not all, of us would agree to this yet most of the “many” are chasing God for the prosperity/money He can give.

Are you chasing God for the right reasons? Is it so you can have a “better life”, drive a nicer car, have more money, find a better partner?
I’m not saying it’s wrong/sinful to have these things. No please; Ecclesiastes 5 19 makes us understand that the above are gifts from God. However are they what you’ve set your sights on as the goal of your relationship with God?

What happens then if it isn’t according to His will for you to receive these? Will you turn from Him and lose your faith?

Colossians 3:2 warns us to keep our mind on things above, not on worldly things. Don’t live your life striving for things of the world, strive to be among “the great multitude”(Revelation 7 9).
Live your life pursuing God’s will, His agenda; as 1 John 2 17 says, “the world and its desires pass away but the man who does God’s will lives forever.

His will for us is clearly stated in the Bible, which is why I urge us all to take some time out to read it and let it guide our lives. Psalm 119 98-105 tells no lie.

Please try hard this week and the coming weeks to PUT GOD FIRST.🤗

Not the miracles but the message

I always wondered why Jesus mostly told those He healed or delivered not to tell anyone what He had just done; Luke 8 56, Mark 7 36……
I’m very much satisfied with the answer I got: He didn’t want them focusing on the miracles but rather on His message, which was the Kingdom of heaven.

It’s pitiful how we’ve become a miracle-obsessed generation, measuring a person’s anointing by the number of miracles he performs or how much he prophesies. We’ve laid the foundation for false prophets to thrive, casting aside the Gospel of how Christ died for us, sanctified us with His blood and made us God’s righteousness so we could live a God-pleasing life with the help of the Holy Spirit. We forget to seek FIRST the Kingdom of God, which is our true and eternal home. We go about our activities totally forgetting that whatever actions we take throughout the day draws us a step closer to Home or two steps back from it.

Don’t be caught off guard when the trumpet sounds. From the Bible, we can judge the time is close.

Please, no matter how busy your life gets, do not forget the message of Christ; the Kingdom of God is near. Genuinely repent and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you through a righteous life, a life pleasing to God. He will take care of your needs, focus on Him and His Kingdom.
